High Temp Tapes Company is a manufacturer of high temp harness tape for engine compartment wiring, engine block area cable routing, power electronics, E-mobility cable sets and selected hot industrial wiring zones. This high temperature wire harness tape is designed for heat-aging stability, abrasion protection and dependable closure after repeated thermal exposure. Grade selection can be matched to the actual cable jacket, overlap rate and wrapping process, including machine application where controlled unwind is required.

Product Overview
This engine compartment harness tape is intended for cable bundles exposed to heat, vibration, recurring rubbing and automotive fluids. Continuous heat-aging and short-term heat exposure should be reviewed separately. Trial wrapping should use the actual cable set because PE, PP, XPE and other insulation materials can react differently to adhesive chemistry, bundle diameter and half-lap tension. For machine application, confirm slit-width consistency, roll format, core size, unwind force and equipment speed. Retained samples also help compare repeat orders before full production.

Application
- Engine compartment cable harnesses
- Engine block area wiring
- Power-electronics-adjacent cable routing
- E-mobility high-voltage and low-voltage cable sets
- Transmission-adjacent harness routes
- Hot industrial wiring zones
Benefits
- PET cloth backing helps protect cable bundles near brackets, edges and recurring vibration points.
- Grade-dependent adhesive systems can be reviewed for flow, transfer and softening after heat exposure.
- Fluid resistance can be checked against oil, coolant, fuel and other specified media.
- Controlled unwind behavior supports stable manual and automated wrapping.
- Actual cable-jacket trials help identify closure changes before bulk use.
- Retained-sample comparison helps maintain consistency in slit width, winding and roll behavior.
When Should a 150 C Harness Tape Grade Be Selected Instead of a 125 C Grade?
A 125 C grade may be suitable for controlled engine-compartment routes. A 150 C grade should be evaluated for wiring close to the engine block, transmission-adjacent areas, power electronics and compact E-mobility cable sets with limited airflow. The selected automotive high temperature harness tape should match the expected continuous exposure, short-term peaks, insulation material and cable-set geometry. Where required, a thermal-overload reference may use the working grade +50 C for 6 h, followed by bending and closure inspection. This remains a validation reference rather than an automatic product claim.

How Should Adhesive Stability Be Evaluated After Thermal Cycling?
Room-temperature adhesion data alone is not enough when approving high temp harness tape for high-heat routing. After hot, cold and humid cycling, inspect tape ends and overlap areas. A 40 mm mandrel-bending reference can reveal edge lifting, flagging, backing cracks, open-lap release, adhesive transfer or visible adhesive flow. Manual and machine-wrapped samples should be reviewed separately because unwind force, wrapping tension and cable-set geometry affect closure.
FAQ
Can this high temp harness tape be used near an engine block?
Yes. The grade should be selected according to continuous temperature, short-term peaks, cable-jacket material and wrapping condition.
Is the tape suitable for automatic harness wrapping equipment?
Yes, after roll format, core size, unwind force, slit accuracy and equipment speed have been confirmed.
Does the tape resist engine oil and coolant?
Fluid resistance should be validated against the required media, dwell time, temperature and post-exposure bending method.
Should PET cloth and heat-reflective grades be treated as the same product?
No. Radiant-heat areas with limited airflow may require a separately evaluated heat-reflective structure.
